It took me a looooooooong time to realize that the number on the scale does not represent how healthy I am. I used to think I had to weigh within a certain range of numbers to feel good about myself but the truth is obsessing about a number on a scale just made me feel horrible about myself. If I moved one or two pounds I would beat myself up. The next day I would deprive myself of a food I loved because I needed that number to move back down. Now I realize I was focusing on the wrong things. The number on the scale is not as important as how I feel. When I feel good that feeling is going to radiate which will make look good. When I feel like crap, especially from eating crap food all of the time, well what do you think I will look like? Crap. I can also gauge by the way my clothes fit if I’ve been over indulging a little in fun foods. However depriving yourself of foods you love should not be part of your healthy lifestyle. With that being said they also shouldn’t be part of your every day diet either. Portion control is key! If you love cookies, put a few on your plate and walk away. If ice cream is your thing scoop a serving size amount in a bowl and put the carton back in the freezer. Don’t take the ice cream carton to the couch with your Netflix remote. You are just asking for trouble! Add moving your body every day for 30 minutes along with portion control, eating healthier meals filled with fresh foods like veggies and fruits, and you will see and feel a huge difference in your body. Being healthy is all about how you feel, not the number on your scale!
